Description

Biblical Foundation for the use of flags:

Biblically flags had the following uses:

Announce an event (forgiveness of sins, redemptions, plan of salvation,) Declare among the nations, proclaim, and set up a standard; proclaim—do not conceal it—say, ‘Babylon is taken, Bel is shamed. Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are humiliated, her images are broken in pieces’ (Jeremiah 50:2).

They are used to gather the army and give them direction. They are a symbol of guidance. The army of Christ is gathered in the midst of the congregation. The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, everyone by his own camp, everyone by his own standard, according to their armies;” (Numbers 1:52).

They are used for spiritual warfare and prophetic intercession.

Set up the standard on the walls of Babylon; make the guard strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes. For the Lord has both devised and done
what He spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon” (Jeremiah 51:12).

They are used for praise and worship to the Almighty God. They are a symbol of hope, joy and victory. Likewise when we raise flags we express our joy and longing, filled with hope because our King will return soon with all power! We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions” (Psalm 20:5).

They are a symbol of direction and God’s opened doors. Go through,
go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!(Isaiah 62:10)

They minister the care, security and protection of the Lord. In Jesus, God himself lifted up a banner. Jesus is a symbol of victory. He is our protection, our security, our strong tower, our only truth. You have given a banner to those who fear You, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah” (Psalm 60:4)

They represent the love of God for His people He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love” (Song of Solomon 2:4).

For war and prophetic intercession over nations, flags are a sign of sovereignty and demarcation of territory. They identified each tribe of Israel. As they marched together with their flags, they demonstrated strength and invincibility to their enemies. Everyone of the children of Israel shall camp by his own standard, beside the emblems of his father’s house; they shall camp some distance from the tabernacle of meeting(Numbers 2:2).

They are a symbol of the move of the Holy Spirit in our favor. “So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:19).
